Adhesion is, simply said, depending on the chemistry of the interphase and structure/morphology of the interface. A crucial first step to reach durable sealed and bonded joints is by definition the surface preparation. The failure of a sealing or bonded joint is for more than 90% of the cases related to an insufficient or wrong surface pretreatment.
